Lately I have had so many reminders of how “life is like that” – you know you have plans for your life, you have a goal in site and then double whammy, before you know it, everything takes on a whole new path! It was something like that tonight when I had so much to say and sat down to my blog only to find that I clearly wasn’t meant to say anything because I had been locked out! My password I had for my hotmail was created just after Noah’s Ark docked – since then I have got it right but noooo now I had it wrong, I am sure right now Bill Gates shakes his head and thinks of course it is you plank, it could never be the computer! Which led me to thinking, I wonder how much time we waste looking for passwords – your passwords, which are protected by passwords! It is craziness how many passwords we use on any given day!
I have had the pleasure the last couple of weeks of spending some time with one of my besties and the more we chat the more I am reminded of how our lives can change direction in a matter of days because “life is like that”! Which reminds me of a trip I had to Durban to stay with this very friend, about 2 years ago – I was so excited my baby was about to turn 1, I was getting to spend time with my wonderful friend and I was in my home town – it doesn’t get much better than that…..until BOOM, I heard a huge bang, a bang that ripped me back from happy holiday mode in seconds! The boom was followed by her voice “Oh shit, are you ok” – you see I was in the room changing Nat’s nappy when I heard that! My ears stretched trying to hear what would follow, what had happened – what was that terrible noise? Then, while I was still in deep thought about what it could be, bestie and my son came in to the room and with a very shocked expression she said “he says he is ok because he has a hard head, do you think you should have him checked out?” I assured her he truly did have a hard head – I know this because my nose has shifted a few degrees following on 2 unplanned head butts that I have suffered! The blood is of no concern for us, you look at either of this the wrong way and we are sure to respond releasing a flood of blood from our nose! I can imagine this is devastating to see, but we are used to it!
Anyway assuring everyone that he was ok and we didn’t need to head off (excuse the pun) to the Medicross just yet I walked through to the lounge and as I turned my head toward the kitchen I was struck by an awful site! The beautiful new door was shattered! Have you ever heard of a head so hard that it breaks a door! I mean I have had my few run ins with glass doors and I can tell you that I came off second best – that door throws you like a tossed out apple core when you speed in to it! Have you ever done this when no one is looking, OF COURSE not, this kind of faux pas requires an audience! It is not the kind of thing that happens in private, you will throw your name as far as that glass will rebound you back from whence you came! I was shattered (oh my here we go with the pun again) – more like the door was shattered! But hell, here I was bringing my family to stay at my friends house and within moments we had already damaged her home!
You will now find those doors beautifully decorated with stickers….
So life may knock you down, you just have to remember to stick yourself together with beautiful stickers and keep trudging on!
